love plays no favorites

today’s expository was around unconditional love
the unbiased merciful kind that is divine from above
james 2:8 “love your neighbor as yourself” commandment impart
in 1 samuel 16:7, “man looks at outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart”

how can one give that kind of love till one tasted and dwells in it?
it has to emanate from the Holy Spirit
it lies dormant in each of us since birth
it mutates or flourishes depending on connection with heaven from earth

horripilation

who wants to be a millionaire
well first, what is horripilation in order to get there
i recall listening to “learn a word a day”
on radio malaysia it did daily play

the contestant squirmed without life lines
tossing between “goosebumps” and “hives”
eyeing 125K prize vs walking away at 64K win
if wrong, tumbling to the 32K pinned

guess which way the dice rolled
he guessed “hives” and regis trolled
to bring on next fastest finger on the hot seat
but we learned from his horripilation defeat

it makes sense now that we know
in horror, little “pill bumps” pile up and grow
i checked to see if this was recently coined
online merriam-webster said 1 entry, but “free trial” please join

i said to heck with webster, let’s check out free wiki
alas – no such entry, but feel free to start an entry
well, i chose to start this on my blog
for anyone of you to react and defog

close encounter of the surf&turf kind

yesterday ufo landed on maple lane
with special delivery of lobsters from maine
meursault, surf&turf, our tastebuds to entertain
tee and tim’s generosity was insane
pasha
what a memorable time we had
what delightful dialogs and fun was bred
a gamut of reminiscing, bliss and teasing
garden paradiso, the evening most pleasing
tee
frankie valli’s oh, what a night
hypnotizing, mesmerizing me
the company was everything we dreamed it would be
sweet surrender, oh what a night

lennon canon

mother, you had us..but we never really had you
melancholic nurture and hardships starved love you never knew
father, you left us..but we never left you
now all we can pray for, is placed on the pew

all we are praying
is she gives peace a chance
all we are hoping
is she snaps out of the trance

turkish moonlight delight

merhaba! yokatta desu ka?
we are so thrilled to hear the arrival of ayla
omedeto yukiko, tebrikler hamza
last week to become proud mama and papa

it is written in heaven
under the skies of new haven
archaelogically engraven
fateful constantinople to beckon

i wonder, stevie with beethoven, sonata to solder
isn’t she lovely, a turkish delight
life and love are the same
precious ayla moonlight
how befitting a name

3 books

old child, young child, feel alright
on a warm san francisco night

recently took auditcommandlanguage course
at needless markup in union square did pause
mind boggling a top at $398 a pop
a drop for some, for most a year’s crop

bypassed macy’s
and detoured to stacey’s
3 minutes to look
3 books I took

life.jpg

the life of language by steinmetz and kipfer

empire.jpg

empires of the word by nicholas ostler

language.jpg

the language instinct by steven pinker
all a la noam chomsky chatter

if you’re going to san francisco
be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
if you’re going some cash to blow
there’s value fare outside of union square

ponder wonder

silence is deafening
actions speak louder than words
to be human is being
one way to heaven, to hell many roads

takes pressured water to cut submarine steel
trust takes years to mill yet one blemish second to kill
why do psychics have to ask you for your name
why spend life vain to clamber fame that ends in shame

contrapunctus

simple is so hard to do
common sense is uncommon
living life is not making a living till blue
give up control to get control to blossom

we have more in common than we are different
the have-nots have what the haves do not have
to receive love, we have first to give love torrent
a blind person has more insight to behold and rev

dust in the wind

neverending housecleaning filled the day
dirt and dust accumulated had to be kept at bay
where do they come from, why do they stay
to remind us that we eventually decay?

but as long as we are stuck here on earth
the dust we gather, can we turn to worth?
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
all our money won’t another minute buy

some sobering questions God won’t ask at endgame
by then no one can no one blame
since what is shared below is public domain
i shall add my paw dust to its terrain

God won’t ask what kind of car you drove
He’ll ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation
God won’t ask the square footage of your house in kokomo grove
He’ll ask how many you welcomed to your home and to salvation

God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet
He’ll ask how many you helped clothe
God won’t ask what your highest salary was and perks you get
He’ll ask if you compromised your character to get it and how it got bloweth

God won’t ask what your job title was, whether good or bad
He’ll ask if you performed to the best of your ability
God won’t ask how many friends you had
He’ll ask how many people to whom you were a friend with sensitivity

God won’t ask what neighborhood you lived
He’ll ask how you treated your neighbor
God won’t ask the color of your skin, however mixed
He’ll ask about the content of your character and tan of your earthly labor

dust-in-the-wind.jpg

same old song
just a drop of water in an endless sea
all we do
crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind

Ecclesiastes 12:7-8
then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
vanity of vanities…all is vanity

3-D

various dimensions in life we can traverse
how deep in the kaleidoscope to immerse?
how wide a u-turn to reverse?
how long do we have on this universe?

my father, he was tailor
sews my wedding dress
wedding dress dad
my father was a gambling man
3-D punting to overcome $$tress

just heard on television
a new 3-D dimension
diarrhea, dementia and death
now troubling mother’s living breath

how many dimensions does your kaleidoscope contain?
brings back sunday school reconfigured refrain
deep and wide, deep and wide
how deep and wide is your fountain flowing inside?

wide, wide as the ocean, high as the heavens above
deep, deep as the deepest sea is my Saviour’s love
i though so unworthy still am a child of His care
His love teaches and reaches me everywhere
multi-dimensional life fare, His glory to bear

lunch obladi oblada

desmona had a job, now in the marketplace
gerry just celebrated 25 years of IBM pace
desmona says to gerry ain’t no time for him to quit
cos’ my hunt to be busy again ain’t complete

obladi, oblada, life with work must go on
chimes a haunt, there’s no need to be forlorn
jarring words, don’t let work define thy worth
while waiting for godot, might as well mirth to birth

desmona takes a break at hampton beach
once a year, sister pat and dad in NY to reach
soak in the sun and have some hoity-toity fun
sorry gerry, just me-and-pat ritual has long begun

for 35 years they have built a home sweet home
now the girls grown, where in life to roam?
desmona loves to design event dinnerware
listen to that inner fanfare, does she dare?

obladi, oblada
life with work must go on….
patati, patata
only once a life can be born….
