things do come full circle
in life’s theatrical
mother lady kitty deserting hubby and arnold child
to run off with lord porteous, love-intoxicated, free and wild
after 30 years, kitty shows up in arnold’s life
and behold, thinking of eloping with lover ed luton is elizabeth, arnold’s wife
ed luton, a bloke running a plantation in “federated malay states” fms
happened to be visiting arnold and elizabeth on furlough, his love to profess
to run off with him to malaysia, his lover to test with zest

maugham hinting how women deal with suppression
lulled into marriage to survive and trapped from true love expression
so life regresses as it progresses?
a circular karmic logic indeed the play professes

signifying that God is
